Situated along the pathway between
Dominus Flevit and the
Garden of Gethsemene is
the spectacular Russian Orthodox Church of Saint Mary Magdalene. Built by Czar
Alexander III in 1885, it stands out as one of Jerusalem's most distinctive
landmarks. The fact that the Church is in need of major repairs does not detract
from its beauty. The seven onion-shaped spires are built in traditional Russian
style. Within the church complex is a convent which has one of Jerusalem's most
outstanding choirs. Admission is free but make sure to come during opening hours
on Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 to 11:30 am.
